Zoe has always been the empathetic and responsible child in the family, occasionally to a fault. When Debbie became pregnant with her second set of twins, Zoe was the only one in the family who opposed having more children. Her reasoning was that as the responsible older sister, she would be saddled with all of the work associated with the newborns. 'You know that I will never say no,' she said to her parents.
True to her character, Zoe changed her attitude completely once Shailie and Gideon were born. Holding one of the babies in her arms for the first time, she said, 'How could I have not wanted them? I love them already.'
In Aydyn's character, this warmth and generosity is transformed into a natural healing ability. But Aydyn's willingness to put others' needs before her own leads to the death of a friend. She pays dearly to learn balance and wisdom.
