Siamac (Mark)
In addition to being a talented architect and a good friend, Mark is the uncle to my children that we all wanted to have when we were growing up. He can create an elaborate and intriguing game or project with anything from common household objects to power tools. In fact, my children would not have a tree house or zip lines were it not for Mark.
Siamac's part in the story is, like those of all four parents, short and sweet. But when Siamac builds the chains into the ramparts of Berelia, in my mind I can see Mark sailing carelessly through the ranks of the enemy, trying single-handedly to turn the tide of a hopeless struggle. Only Mark would be capable of behavior at once so brilliant and so frivolous.
